ELIGIBILITY


Any syringe exchange program that has been in operation for ninety (90) days or longer, in the fifty states, Puerto Rico, or US Territories, with a syringe exchange budget of seventy five thousand dollars ($75,000.00) or less is eligible for a NASEN grant. Use the budget pages provided in this RFP. Requests that do not include these two pages will not be considered. If your program has a parent agency (Health Department, CBO, ASO, etc.) the parent organization budget must also be included. This requirement does not apply if you are just using another 501(c)(3) as a fiscal agent.


 

What We Fund:

 

 

Supplies, Up to $700.00 toward computer equipment, Travel to a comparable exchange, Training, Attendance at the North American Syringe Exchange Convention

 

 

What We Do Not Fund:

 

Salaries, Vans, Other Capitol Costs

 

 

How We Fund:

 

Selected programs will receive a one-time award not to exceed $8,000.

 

 

When We Fund:

 

October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2008

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Your proposal is to be no longer than three pages of narrative plus the
two-page budget provided with this RFP, type written in 12 point type or larger. Margins are to be at least one inch. Include in the narrative your program's history, current operation, hours of exchange, staffing, volume of supplies used, description of the population served, and how the grant will be used. The budget pages should include all income anticipated for the grant period and clearly show how the grant money will be spent. Do not tell us how important syringe exchange is or how great your program is or will be, we know that already.
Do tell us what you have done and what you will do in the future.

 

 

Two hard copies of your grant request must be in NASEN's office no later than 5pm PDT, 25 September 2007. Fax and e-mail requests will not be accepted.
