Through “home-visits”, the program provides services to all of San Diego County, containing a diversity of urban, suburban, and rural locations. Participants receive a range of services including referrals, peer-based support, educational materials (e.g. HIV risk reduction, overdose prevention, drug interactions, etc.), group meetings involving topics of substance use management and substance use change, condoms and information on safer sex practices. In addition, participants receive referrals to HIV antibody testing, and as needed, referral to HIV early intervention and treatment.

What the Program Does NOT Do...
What We Need...
Volunteers currently distribute clean syringes by appointment. Individuals who are interested in receiving services can call to
schedule to arrange an appointment.
The program offers safe disposal of used syringes to participants and encourage those in the community to
safely discard of used syringes in bio-medical waste systems. To arrange for used syringes to be
discarded through our medical waste system, call for an appointment.
Participants recieve a variety of information about drug-related harm and prevention strategies.
Referrals to drug treatment and case management services are provided by request.
The program DOES NOT encourage drug use.
Drug users to protect their communities.
