“Party and Play” / “PnP” / “Chemsex” / “Hi Fun”

"Party and Play" (PnP), also called “chemsex” or “hi fun,” often refers to using stimulants while engaging in sexual activities. In the United States, the term is commonly associated with (but not limited to) consensual meth use among gay men. Other substances may include GHB/G, ketamine, mephedrone, coke, and others.

Risks involved can include:

  • Overamping (too much meth or stimulants)
  • GHB overdose or G “blackouts”

  • Non-consensual sexual encounters.
  • Dehydration
  • Serotonin syndrome (mixing G and MDMA)

Harm Reduction Practices for PnP can include the following:

  • Test your drugs (fentanyl, MDMA, G)
  • Avoid mixing depressants (G, alcohol, benzos)
  • How can I tell if a person can give consent?
  • Time your G doses (space 2–3 hrs, measure carefully) Learn more tips for dosing G here.
  • Use new needles for injection and avoid sharing supplies
  • Use condoms, lube, and PrEP/PEP if available
  • Stay hydrated, take breaks, and check in with friends
